ESSENDON MAZDA 55 SECOND CHALLENGE
The Essendon Mazda 55 Second Challenge is a pure test of speed over 955 metres. The barriers are positioned in the 1000 metre chute and the challenge will be to see which horse can break the 55 second mark across the Sportingbet Night Racing Season.
On each of the 18 night meetings in season 2011/2012, Moonee Valley staged an Essendon Mazda 55 Second Challenge heat, with each heat carrying prizemoney of $55,000. The Essendon Mazda 55 Second Challenge heat was programmed as Race 4 at 8:15pm at each of the night meetings.
General Truce trained by Ricky Maund ran the quickest time across the 18 race series and won a Mazda BT-50 courtesy of Essendon Mazda.
