Dual Cox Plate Winner So You Think Retired To Stud

Dual Cox Plate winner So You Think has been withdrawn from the Group 1 Coral Eclipse Stakes (2000m) – a race he won 12 months ago, after he was found lame in his stables.

So You Think came to prominence through winning the 2009 and 2010 Cox Plates, Australia's premier weight for age race. His second Cox Plate win came at just his tenth career start. The Eclipse was set to be his final racetrack appearance before returning to Australia to commence a lucrative stud career at owner Coolmore's New South Wales base at an introductory fee of $A66,000.

So You Think has ended his career with Group 1 victories at his final two appearances being the Tattersalls Gold Cup for the second time, beating Famous Name by six lengths on 27 May and in June he returned to Royal Ascot for a second attempt at the Prince of Wales Stakes at Royal Ascot (UK). Starting 4/5 favourite against ten opponents, he took the lead two furlongs from the finish and won by two and a quarter lengths from the Queen's colt Carlton House.

He captured five Group 1 races in each hemisphere amassing a total of 14 wins and five minor placings from 23 starts earning over $A7.6 million in prizemoney.

In So You Think's absence a field of 10 will contest the Eclipse Stakes which still garners plenty of interest for Australian punters with several Sportingbet Cox Plate possible contenders engaged including Crackerjack King, Cityscape and Monterosso.
