More Joyous Times This Spring

Yesterday’s barrier trials in Sydney set the scene for some of the stars of the turf to strut their stuff for the first time in a while.

The headlining act was Sydney’s glamour mare More Joyous.

More Joyous won her 1050m trial in a stunning 64 seconds beating the rest of the field by a length.

Trainer Gai Waterhouse confirmed the Sportingbet Cox Plate on 27 October will be More Joyous’ main act.

Connections are quietly confident and have stated the mare is back in a big way.

Other Cox Plate contenders Secret Admirer and Sincero both looked well on their way to a promising spring.

Joe Prides star sprinter won his 820 metre heat by a half-head with Rain Affair headed toward the Group 1 Sportingbet Manikato Stakes, to be held on Cox Plate eve.

In other racing news last spring’s star jockey Craig Williams has been offered to ride Pierro in his spring campaign which will culminate in a crack at the Cox Plate.
